TLC for colour treated hair

This week Tilly from Tilly Jayne shares with us her two favourite hair care products for giving her colour treated hair a little TLC.

Having dyed my hair for most of my adult life so far, I’ve definitely put my locks under pressure. I’ve been almost every colour under the sun from black (and it wasn’t even Halloween) to ombre and even red (but that was actually for Halloween!). My current shade is what I can only describe as a mix between silver and blonde. I regularly have highlights and bleach on my hair, this has left it quite dry and damaged. Therefore it’s really important that I take care of it and try and revive it with the help of some super products.

As I not only dye my hair, but also regularly use heat on it, I always use a protection spray. I’ve been testing out two products from the much talked about Moroccanoil range available at Hairtrade. First up the heat styling protection spray, I couldn’t wait to test this out, it has such a gorgeous scent and I had really high hopes. I wasn’t disappointed, I sprayed it on my hair just before using my hairdryer and straighteners and I was so surprised at how glossy it left my heat-treated hair. Just after one use my hair had a lot less of the frizz and static that it usually gets and I was over the moon with the results. This heat protection spray is definitely going to have a solid place in my haircare routine from now on.

The second product I tested out from the Moroccanoil range was the intense hydrating mask. Again I just have to the point out the delicious smell of these products, they had almost won me over before I even used them! The mask itself has a really great thick consistency; I could tell it was a good quality product. I applied a fair amount to my towel dried hair, as I’ve only recently had colour in my hair it was in much need of treatment! As instructed I let it penetrate my hair for a good 5 minutes, before rinsing it out and continuing with my routine. I used this twice over a period of 5 days, which I found to be just the right amount. It left my hair feeling revitalized and silky smooth.

With both of these products I generally feel that they have really improved the texture of my previously dry hair. I would definitely recommend them for anyone who has colour in their hair and needs a little extra TLC!
