Now that we’re at the end of summer in the UK, the start of September means we begin to hunt out the jeans and boots and for many of us it also means a new style for the season. Gone are the sunkissed beach waves and festival hair and instead we’re bringing back fringes, bobs and a different take on the ombre hair for Autumn.
Fringes seem to make a comeback every Autumn/Winter, and this year is no exception. This time round we’re going to be seeing every type of fringe from a full fringe like Zooey Deschanel, peek-a-boo fringes like Jameela Jamil, and Alexa Chung’s signature middle parted fringe. Fringes make a huge difference to a hair style, so if you’re not ready to chop off that length or change your colour, a fringe might just be what you’re looking for!
To get a sense of how you will look with a fringe, why not try a clip in fringe? Made from 100% human hair means that you can trim it and style it to blend with your natural hair. They’re also great if you fancy a fringe just for a short time without going for a permanent cut.
Ombre hair has managed to stick around through many seasons over the last year or two. We’ve gone from ombre blonde to full on dip dye and to bright pinks and blues. This season however it’s taking a sophisticated and subtle turn with the ‘sombre’ – aka subtle or soft ombre.
The graduation between the darker colour and lighter colour is a lot less harsh, and the tone is only a few shades lighter than the natural colour, giving it a sleeker look. Highlights are also placed around the front to frame the face, with just a little kiss of colour. This style works well on all hair lengths but we particularly love it on long hair to get more of a graduation of colour. Use a curling wand to loosely curl the hair which will really show off the tones!
If long hair isn’t your thing, then take inspiration from these lovely ladies and go for a bob. Emma Stone works the above the shoulder length perfectly, while Taylor Swift keeps hers resting on her shoulders. And Karlie Kloss shows us how to perfect the wavy bob with a gorgeous side sweeping fringe.
