I’ve been a fan of Lauren Conrad’s style for a while now, since her ‘Hills’ days and I also follow her hints and tips on The Beauty Department which is why I decided to do a post on Lauren’s look.
She always manages to look perfect, from her clothes to her hair and makeup, yet it’s natural and never ‘try-hard’. She keeps her makeup simple (you can see many of her tutorials at The Beauty Department) with flawless and glowing foundation, eye liner and red lips and her hair is always natural yet perfectly styled.
The look I love right now from Lauren is the Ballerina Bun. It can take you from day to night in an instant, and is perfect for those days when you don’t want to do a lot with your hair or if you just don’t have the time!
It’s really easy to do – simply tie your hair into a high ponytail and either use a ‘doughnut ring’ to shape the hair around or twist hair and wrap around the base of the ponytail. Using kirby grips/bobby pins, secure the bun by inserting them along the base of the bun (3 would be plenty, more if you have longer hair!) Then just spray with hairspray to keep in place.
You can create this look as sleek or as messy as you like depending on the look you’re going for – wear it high up, or down low at the back or the side of the neck. Another tip is to curl your hair under before styling or back comb slightly to create a little more volume.
If your hair isn’t quite long enough, then fake it! Try one of these hair buns or clip-in hair extensions; you’ll not be able to tell the difference!
