After seeing some amazing holiday hair styles from This Chick’s Got Style it got me thinking about makeup for Christmas.
At our house the camera is out ALL day and this year I’m determined to be picture perfect so I’m going for the natural yet frosty look with shimmering blush. New CID has the perfect range for this look, so I’ve picked out a few of the basics to get us started.
FACE
Now I’ve only recently became a fan of primers, I hadn’t really used them a lot before but now I honestly couldn’t live without them! Primer’s not only improve the appearance of the skin but it makes foundation glide on so much easier and helps to keep it in place all day. The New CID I-Prime is a light-weight serum and you apply it after moisturising. It contains Shea butter so makes your skin feel super soft and it also has Vitamin E which is a great antioxidant. After using this, my foundation blends so much more evenly.
I’m sure many of you will already have your favourite foundation (or a few if you’re anything like me!) but finding the exact colour has always been a bit tricky for me. Some make me look like a ghost, whilst others just make me orange. The New CID I-Perfect Colour Adjust Foundation is definitely one of my top choices. It has a built in brush (perfect for on the go) and colour adaptive pigments so that the foundation simply adjusts to your individual skin tone.
CHEEKS
Now for that little bit of Christmas shimmer. The best tip I can give here is less is definitely more! We don’t want to look like the glittery angel on top of the tree! Using a shimmer powder like this I-Glow Compact Shimmer Powder in Ice Pop, apply a small amount to your cheek bones to highlight – try to avoid using it over your whole face. You can even use it as a blusher but I prefer to use it over my favourite blusher as a little ‘pick me up’.
EYES
If you’re opting for the more sophisticated look, try using a nude eye shadow over your eyes to even out the tone and then add liquid liner with a small flick at the ends (Lauren Conrad Style). You can then use this gorgeous Shimmer Stick on your brow bones and inside the corners of your eyes. A light colour like this will really open up your eyes and brighten them up. You can also apply this to your cheekbones if you’d rather use a non-shimmer blusher.
If colour is more your style, this Eye Shadow Quad in Laguna is great. You can even use it to go from a day to night look by adding the darker colours. They still have that hint of shimmer for the holidays too.
LIPS
Lastly the lips, I’ve picked out two lip glosses to complete our holiday look. New CID I-gloss is lightweight and more importantly non-sticky but still with a high shine that really lasts. Moonstone (left) is the perfect frosty colour, but Tickled Pink is also a classic pink that you can’t go wrong with.
So I hope this inspires you with your makeup over Christmas. I’d love to hear if there are any looks you’re going to be trying over the next two weeks.
